Welcome to our Website

This is where our group can virtually meet.
We can discuss any topic here.
For using many of the options you have to register. If you are part of the none-virtual group, please create an account ASAP because later (when we will start getting posts for Viagra) we will cancel the automatic registration...
We hope this space can be a useful platform for our discussions which is not dependent on physical space and time...
Enjoy!

03/02 Meeting Notes

Despite being logistically challenged, our meeting the past Friday was quite productive.

Apologies to everyone with a conflict. The next meeting will be on Monday, March 12, at 7pm, so hopefully you'll be able to make that one.

Summary:

We started off with reintroductions and a conversation about our hopes for the organization. This naturally turned into a discussion of our goals moving forward and a handful of tangible next steps emerged.

1) Platform/Goals:

What do we mean by "sustainable"?

"Sustainable" is a term that has come to be used because it allows a degree of comprimise. Economically, it allows for growth while also indicating that the growth must not limit the future functioning of the system. Depending on your point of view, the system can mean a range of things.

How is "sustainable" relevant to our work, and what will it mean for us?

About us

We are a group of graduate and undergraduate students at the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley...

Ideas on Curriculum Change

  • Interdepartmental classes
  • Studios geared towards sustainability
  • Ecological design minor - courses aren't consistently offered
  • Sustainability themed architecture lecture series - we want the main lecture series for the department to adopt a sustainable design theme for a semester.
  • Student Led Curriculum - Student group that works with studios to educate about issues in sustainable design
  • desk crits, lecture, mail list, something similar to Gary Black's structures as a supplement to studios

General Discussion Space
